A notorious armed robber has finally been captured by the police in
Benue State. The man identified as one Emmanuel Kumator, a trusted
member of deadly gang controlled by wanted man Terwase Akwaza alias
Ghana. The gang has been terrorizing people in Benue State.
He was captured at 2:45pm along Tor-Donga - Shiakper road in
Katsina-Ala local government area of the state. According to military
sources, Emmanuel Kumator was apprehended by the villagers who handed
him over to the security team.
Many members of the communities in that part of the state are said
to be angry with the gang which they accuse of turning their area to a
den of hoodlums and have vowed to assist security agencies to defeat the
criminal group.
Items recovered from the suspect were 2 AKA47 magazines, 28 special
rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, 27 NATO rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, 1
pair of camouflage uniform with a jungle cap, 1 stolen motorcycle, a
bunch of charms, 9 assorted mobile phones, 1 cartridge and ammunition, 1
amnesty participant ID tag, several car and motorcycle keys and
assorted phone chargers.
Governor Samuel Ortom had earlier today reaffirmed the commitment of his administration to the fight against crime in the state.
The Governor who spoke to journalists at Federal Medical Centre
Apir, said his administration will neither surrender Benue to criminals
nor compromise its resolve to chase the hoodlums out of the state.
He said the stick approach of the post-amnesty era has been
yielding good results and will be sustained, urging the people of the
state to go about their normal activities without fear as security
operatives have been mobilised to deal with any individual or group
fomenting trouble.
