The cancer patient with a giant tumour the size of a watermelon in his neck needs a life-saving operation in the UK. Arisa Paul, 27, was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma three years ago but cannot afford the treatment to get rid of the deadly disease. And now his tumours are so bad he is almost unrecognisable.
Doctors previously managed to reduce the size of Paul's tumour but a year after chemotherapy it began to grow until it became a huge neck mass.
Now he needs urgent radiotherapy treatment that he cannot afford in Nigeria and also has to pay back five months of outstanding chemotherapy treatments. A friend of his in London, Cynthia Nnadi, created a gofundme page for Paul to help him get the treatment he desperately needs.
She wrote on the page: "This is an Urgent Appeal for a dear friend.
"My secondary school friend Arisa Paul has been battling cancer for years now, and is in dare need of your help to further continue prospective treatments.
"As Paul has been fighting this terrible condition for years, means that finances have already been stretched so far and his family are unable to meet the extra cost for treatment and require help."
So far over £12,000 has been raised to help Paul by over 400 people in 11 days.
Cynthia later posted: "I have spoken to Paul, he has assured me he is in good hands and his family is doing all they can to get him the best help.
"We are currently still making plans for Visa applications to get him to the US or UK for expert care, we have made contact with Oncologists in the UK and US, who have given us a rough estimate for the cost of his treatments.
"We are yet to accept any of the offers, as the all require a colossal amount of money."
She said he must leave Nigeria to seek help by the end of the week.
Cynthia added: "I can say for sure is that Paul definitely still needs our help and support to survive this terrible disease.
"I confirm that Paul is in good hands, and is getting medical care from his doctors in Nigeria, while we finalise arrangements to get him abroad.
"Thank you all for your support, and the efforts being made by everyone to save Paul is very much appreciated, may God Reward you all."
