Thailand is threatening to press charges against Facebook after a video of the country's King walking around in a yellow crop top emerged online.
Footage surfaced last week of King Maha Vajiralongkorn walking around wearing a crop top, revealing tattoos on his arms and chest, accompanied by a woman.
Facebook
geo-blocked the footage, so it could not be seen by users in Thailand
at the request of the government - but Thai authorities claim there are
still a number of accessible pages which contain content critical of the
monarchy.
Officials have given the social media giant a
deadline of 10am on Tuesday to remove pages containing the "illicit"
video of the King as well as pages containing the critical posts, or it
will press charges, Bangkok Post reports.
Facebook has already restricted access to 178 of the 309 pages with the video.
But the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) claims that there are still 131 pages available.
"If
even a single illicit page remains, we will immediately discuss what
legal steps to take against Facebook Thailand,” Takorn Tantasith,
secretary-general of the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications
Commission said.
