Tragic picture shows Chapecoense semi-final heroes six days before plane disaster - and lone survivor from fateful victory

These are Chapecoense's tragic Copa Sudamericana heroes pictured six days before a plane crash claimed the lives of all but one of their semi-final team.

Less than a week ago the tiny Brazilian side booked their place in the club's first ever Copa Sudamericana final after slaying Argentinian giants San Lorenzo.

They were travelling to play Colombian side Atletico Nacional in the final when their plane fell from the sky due to electrical problems just five minutes before it was due to land this morning.

Just three of the club's 22-man squad survived. A total of 76 of the 81 passengers on board were killed.

Danilo (L) was taken to hospital but died a short time later
