62-year-old white man shot and killed a black 15-year-old after they bumped
into each other and exchanged words
Police say James Means bumped into 62-year-old William Ronald Pulliam
outside of a Dollar General store in the 1500 block of Washington
Street East and the two exchanged words.
After the argument, Pulliam went into the store while Means joined
his friends on the porch of a home belonging to a friend’s grandmother.
Investigators say Pulliam emerged from the store and walked past the
porch where Means and his friends had gathered, the two argued again,
and after Means crossed the street to approach the man, Pulliam shot
Means twice.
The teen died later at a local hospital.
Pulliam seemed to show no remorse
for the shooting, as he reportedly told police, "The way I look at it,
that's another piece of trash off the street."
After the shooting, while the 15-year-old was dying from gunshot
wounds to his abdomen, Pulliam reportedly ate dinner and visited a
friend's house.
Pulliam has been charged with first-degree murder.
