A man has been jailed for 12 years, for raping his heavily pregnant wife and urinated on her face

The abuser carried out the sexual and physical assaults on his partner of three years between February and September of 2013 in their home when she was aged 20. The offences took place during her pregnancy and continued after she had given birth.
Judge Babington said the attacks took place on three consecutive mornings after the victim was awoken by Healy urinating on her face. Healy also subjected his partner to what she described to the police as “donkey kicking” by punching her to the head and body to heighten his sexual feelings during intercourse.
The woman reported the abuse to the police in September 2013 and the following month Healy was arrested and interviewed. He admitted the physical abuse to the police but denied the sexual offences.
On one occasion after abusing his partner Healy assaulted her mother just 48 hours after he was released from residential care. He was jailed for eighteen months for that offence in January of last year.
Judge Babington said a victim impact report compiled by a consultant psychiatrist stated that the victim had suffered considerably on a psychological level and that her ongoing treatment and medication would continue for the foreseeable future.
Healy’s trial date was fixed for last May but just before the trial was due to start he changed his not guilty pleas and admitted the offences.
Healy has been jailed for 12 years, Healy will be subject to the notification requirements of the Sexual Offences Legislation for an indefinite period.
Judge Babington said in order to protect the public, in particular females, Healy would further be subject to the terms of a Sexual Offences Prevention Order, also for an indefinite period.
