Woman gang raped by ISIS militants until she passed out tells how she fought back from kidnap ordeal

An Iraqi woman who was tortured and brutally raped by ISIS fighters until she passed out is sharing the story of her imprisonment.

According to Mirror....Nadia Murad Basee Taha was abducted two years ago and kept as a slave in the Islamist stronghold of Mosul.

She was savagely beaten, sexually assaulted and exchanged as a gift alongside thousands of other women and children between ISIS commanders.

Nadia escaped captivity after three months, but countless other slaves are not so lucky.
She has now been handed a top human rights award for her work to highlight the persecution of women in ISIS territories.

Now an activist campaigning for women's rights, Nadia met barrister Amal Clooney at the United Nations building in New Work last month.

Nadia said after receiving the Vaclav Havel Human Rights Prize: "I would to dedicate this award to all women throughout the world who are persecuted and the thousands of Yazidi women and children who have been living in the hell of Daesh (Islamic State) for two years now.
"This will give me renewed strength to continue moving forward to fight against extremism in all its manifestations."

Nadia is the fourth recipient of the prize, which is awarded by the Council of Europe.

She dedicated the award to the 2,000 Yazidi women who have escaped ISIS enslavement.
Since getting her freedom, Nadia has become an activist, visiting Egypt, Greece, Kuwait, Norway, the United States and Britain to raise awareness of the plight of the Yazidis - an ethnic group found largely in Iraq and Syria.

Appointed a UN goodwill ambassador for human trafficking victims last month, Nadia has urged the international community to do more to bring the jihadist militants to justice.

The United Nations said in January the Islamic State was still holding an estimated 3,500 people, mainly women and children, as slaves in Iraq.
