In a recent interview with Punch, Nollywood actress Empress Njamah shut down rumours saying she went under the Knife to enlarge her butt... She claimed she was naturally gifted with big booty and not need any enlargement. See what she said after the cut
When asked Body enhancement
I did not enhance my buttocks. I have always had big buttocks. Whoever says I tampered with my bottom is a learner.
I actually reduced my buttocks because I used to like to wear a
particular design and size. As a result, I had to lose weight to fit
into it. My bottom reduced when I lost some weight. I’m not against
people enhancing their bodies. They have their reasons for doing so but I
would rather go to the gym than go under the knife because the
after-effect of surgery is worse than going to the gym. If you really
want to enhance your body, you can exercise and get the natural
enhancement.
Marriage
Before my brother, John, got married,
nobody told him he was next. It just came. So basically, there’s
nothing to suggest that I am next on the marriage list. Marriage is
something that happens naturally, so it will happen naturally for me. I
can’t clone a husband, so I can’t go on and on about what qualities he
must possess. I’m not an artist that will draw the kind of man I want
because what you deserve might not be what you’ll get. When I pray, I
tell God to let His will be done.
Background
I was born to a Nigerian father and
Cameroonian mother. My late father was a disciplinarian who wanted the
best for his children. I learnt a lot from my mum and that helped me
become the woman that I am today. She had a way of making me understand
why certain things should not be done in a certain way. My father never
wanted me to get into the industry but my mother helped me to achieve
my dreams.
Siblings
Growing up with my brothers, Aquila and
John, was interesting and I was more of a tomboy. My brothers have
always been my buddies. When I started acting, they always went through
the scripts that were given to me and made sure that I priortised
education. My brothers joined the industry long before I did, so they
have always been the ones to advise me. They made me understand the
importance of getting an education and why I must not play every
role. They also ensured that I pursued other things aside from acting.
Till date, they still go through my scripts.
Education
I studied English at Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye.
Acting
I accompanied my brother, John, to a
reading and the lady who was supposed to act a particular role was
absent. I was asked to do read her lines. When my brother and I were
about leave, the producer of the movie asked if I would like a role in
the movie. I was excited and accepted the offer. It was a big one for me
because I acted alongside people I only used to see on television. My
first major role was in a movie titled, Girls Hotel. I featured alongside Olu Jacobs and it was shot in Port Harcourt and Aba. Before then, I did Diamond Ring, with Tade Ogidan.
Challenges
I won’t say there were challenges. All
over the world, nothing good comes easy. Challenges help you to become
better at what you do depending on how you handle them. Challenges are
there to push you up and it all depends on you.
Producing
I have produced two movies even though
I’m not a full-time producer. I started producing when I wanted to play a
particular character and I felt I would act the role better if I wrote
the script and produced it. My brother and I directed the movies. We had
a lot of ideas in mind for the movies I produced and we wanted to be
able to achieve those goals. Acting made me who I’m today, so I produce
whenever I have the chance to.
Other interests
I run Empress Njamah Foundation, Empress
Njamah Beauty Parlour, Empress Njamah Boutique and I’m working on my
shoe line as well as other things. I love to multitask, experiment and
follow my dreams. Acting has no expiry date. You can be a 100-year-old
man or woman and still play a role. Acting doesn’t affect anything. For
me, acting is not about the money. It’s about good scripts and
challenging characters.
Roles
I like roles that have not been done
before and if it has been done before, then it should be in a different
form. I love challenging characters. Sometimes you get excited working
with a director or a particular producer and you would love to work with
the person again.
Fame
Naturally, I’m a regular person. If it were possible, I would love to take off my face and do whatever I feel like doing.
Projects
I just finished working with Sotayo
Entertainment. I have a movie I shot recently where I played a private
police detective. That was my first time of playing the role of a
detective.
Style
I do not follow trends. I wear a lot of jeans and leggings. In a week, I can wear a jeans five times.
Leisure
I’m always working. If I’m not acting,
I’m working on my designs. Sometimes, I don’t relax and when I travel
because I travel to do business. Naturally, I’m a hyperactive person.
