Mum left with Shocking injuries after beaten by partner while baby daughter lay just feet away

Ashley Gebbie had given birth just three weeks earlier when boyfriend Alan Crozier came home and attacker her in the early hours of the morning. Her devastated family posted shocking pictures of her injuries on social media to shame the thug.

A family source told the Daily Record : “What kind of guy does this to a tiny 6st girl three weeks after giving birth by Caesarean section?”

Crozier is facing jail after he admitted seizing Ashley by the hair, pushing her to the ground, punching her head and grabbing her by the neck at their Wishaw home.

He only stopped beating the mum when she picked up their baby daughter.

The Facebook pictures of Ashley’s injuries come with the message: “Please share and let everyone know what a violent, low-down scumbag Alan Crozier is.

“Violently attacking and causing serious injuries to Ashley while their three-week-old daughter was present.”

A family source added: “Their baby was in the pram when Crozier attacked Ashley.”

Last month, Hamilton Sheriff Court heard that Crozier, who had been in a relationship with Ashley for 13 months, left for work at 9am on July 17 but did not return home until about 2.30am the next day.

When Ashley, who had been very worried, asked Crozier, 33, where he had been, he flew off the handle and started attacking her.

Fiscal depute Callum Forsyth told the court that Ashley, fearing for her life, bit Crozier and ran from the bedroom into the living room, where she picked up the baby in a desperate bid to stop the beating.

She called police and Crozier left, saying he wouldn’t be coming back and that he would kill himself.

He was arrested a few days later at a relative’s home in Glasgow.

Defence lawyer Diarmid Bruce told the court that Crozier had been diagnosed with bipolar disorder, but had not taken his medication for two years as he had been in “a good place” in his relationship.

After the attack, Ashley was taken to Wishaw General Hospital. She suffered two black eyes and extensive bruising to her head and neck. One of her eye sockets was damaged.

Crozier, who was remanded in custody, is due to be sentenced for the assault this month. Ashley’s family hope he is banged up for a long time.

The family source said they were angry that Crozier is being painted, by some people, as a “nice guy”.

The source added: “The police have a tape recording of part of the assault.

“The great guy then done a runner and hid in Glasgow while everyone searched for him, thinking he was going to harm himself.

“As a family, we are releasing this information because he is in jail and waiting to be sentenced, which should be a long one.

"We only posted the pictures to show people what happened. Sadly, there are those who do not believe the evidence.”

A police spokesman said: “The incident was an unprovoked violent attack on Ashley, who had recently given birth to the couple’s child.

“She was left with significant injuries. Ashley’s bravery in contacting police immediately led to Alan Crozier being swiftly arrested and subsequently convicted for serious assault.”

Wishaw MSP Clare Adamson condemned domestic abuse. She added: “It is an abhorrent and largely hidden crime in our communities.”
