Lady Gaga has reportedly been banned from China. China's
Communist Party has reportedly taken steps to block citizens from
listening to any of the star's music after she met with the Dalai Lama.
According to reports, the CCP has demanded that websites stop uploading and distributing her songs with immediate effect, while news outlets are being urged to criticise the singer publicly.
Some fans of the singer have even claimed that they've had Instagram posts featuring the star censored.
The pair's meeting, which took place on Monday, was shared online and has since been watched over three million times.
The decision to ban Gaga is an unprecedented move, considering she is one of - if not the most - popular Western musicians in the country.
China has been involved in a bitter war of words with the Dalai Lama for decades, dating all the way back to 1959.
He is regularly vilified by the government due to his advocacy for splitting the Himalayan region of Tibet from China.
A spokesperson for the country previously described the icon as "a political exile who has been carrying out separatist activities for a long time."
Surprisingly, Gaga isn't the only celebrity to have received similar treatment from the Chinese government.
The star joins Oasis, Miley Cyrus, Jay-Z, Selena Gomez, Bob Dylan and Bjork on a list of musicians who have been banned from performing in the country.
