Adele has earned £35million in a year thanks to hit album 25 and is now worth a whopping £85m. The huge sum puts the 27 year-old at the top the Rich List of performers aged 30 and under.
In
early November – before the release of 25 just weeks later – her
accounts showed she had earned £17m in royalties from previous albums,
19 and 21.
Adele’s fortune puts her 30th in the overall 2016 Sunday Times Rich List of performers and composers in Britain and Ireland. At this rate she could be worth more than the Rolling Stones by the time she hits 40. Sir Mick Jagger is worth £235m and No5 on the list, with bandmate Keith Richards at No6 with £220m.
Since then Adele has sold almost 20 million copies of 25 and embarked on her first tour since 2011, playing to millions of fans.
Sir Mick Jagger (L) is worth comfortably over £200m
Sam Smith and Florence Welch also had a good year, both adding £8m to their bank balances, making them worth £20m each.
But the richest young band is One Direction , worth a combined £132m.
Niall,
Liam, Harry and Louis also all added £8m and are worth £33m each.
Ex-bandmate Zayn Malik, 23, added £5m and is now worth £30m.
When Charlie Watts (£120m) and Ronnie Wood (£55m) are added the band has a combined fortune of £630m, up £40m.
Sir Paul McCartney is No1, up £30m on last year, sharing a fortune of £760m with his wife Nancy Shevell.
