A woman spent more than £10,000 on transforming herself into Disney princesses, spending a fortune on the expensive hobby that sees her play dress up for the day. Sarah Ingle has been obsessed with the Disney franchise since childhood. See photos after the cut.
As
she grew up, she says friends and family commented on her doll-like
features and striking resemblance to princesses such as Elsa from Frozen. But being a real-life Disney royal comes with an eye-watering price tag.
To date, the 25-year-old has spent £10,000 on her magical collection of 17 custom made princess outfits.
And
the full time marketing manager from Denver, Colorado, now spends her
weekends transforming herself into characters and entertaining children
with her alter egos.
Sarah, who spends up to £1500 on each
outfit, says:
"I have always loved singing and I have always loved Disney, so it was no surprise to my family and friends when I began performing as a princess.
"Each dress can take up to six months to make and I source many different materials from all over the world, including silk and organza before drawing my final designs.
"I'm lucky enough to have a friend who is a dress designer and she works so hard to make every dress as perfect as can be.
"I'm very fortunate to have a full time job that pays for the beautiful dresses and material because I'm so passionate about looking the best that I can for the performances.
"I really feel like the dresses complete the princess transformation."
Growing up, Sarah always had a passion for singing and performing in musical theatre shows.
She said: "My mum and dad told me I used to run around at home singing Disney songs before I could even
"I was born with really big eyes, and people were always telling me that I looked like a cartoon doll or Disney princess.
"I suppose that my big eyes just help me to appear more cartoon- like, which is great for what I do."
Charging £100 an hour for an appearance, Sarah performs at children's parties and community events.
She
dresses up as fairytale characters Belle, Cinderella, Aurora from
Sleeping Beauty, Ariel from The Little Mermaid, Rapunzel, Merida from
Brave, Snow White and Frozen sisters Elsa and Anna.
Boasting an
impressive collection of 16 different wigs and 17 custom-made outfits,
Sarah spends three hours transforming into character.
To recreate
each authentic fairytale princess look she uses clever make-up,
contouring and practices the character's mannerisms in the mirror.
She says:
"I absolutely love dressing up as all of the different princesses.
"It takes a lot of time to get into the outfits because they have lots of layers that tie up at the back.
"Then I have a different wig and makeup look for each princess.
"I have to contour my face when I play Aurora from Sleeping Beauty because my face is much rounder than hers.
"And as I have hazel eyes, I have to wear blue contact lenses for The Little Mermaid and Elsa from Frozen.
"I would have to say that Ariel is my favourite character because I get to wear a red wig and tail and be a mermaid for the day.
"Nothing makes me happier than seeing the look on children's
faces when they see their favourite princess arrive at their party- it's
magical."
