Kanye wont be happy with this! The
rapper initially announced that 'The Life of Pablo' album would be
available for purchase on Apple Music after its exclusive week on Tidal,
prompting a slew of preorders. But then he changed his mind again saying it would only be available on his personal website, 'never never on Apple'.
As of Tuesday, the album has been pirated an estimated 500,000 times, according to Torrent Freak, who suggest that the high volume is down to its limited availability.
The
site also reported that even those trying to purchase the album through
the restricted avenues had faced problems, with many complaining
toTidal that they had failed to receive a copy due to the services
payment system.
The album is currently leading The Pirate Bay's list of most shared music torrents by a landslide, said the site.
This can't have helped with his supposedly dire cash situation: The singer has claimed he is $53 million in debt.
While
the album was highly anticipated, with a significant number of pirates
expected, this high number was most certainly down to its limited
release.
But
Kanye's surprise move has certainly boosted the popularity of Tidal,
with Apple charting it as the top free app on Monday after he asked 'all
music lovers' to subscribe.
