An aeroplane passenger was caught carrying an eight-and-half foot long snake skin into New Zealand in his luggage. The New Zealander arrived at Auckland Airport on a flight from Brazil, where he declared the biosecurity risk item, to security agents. Upon inspection, the lengthy reptile skin was seized by airport staff.

The skin is believed to be originally from a Brazilian anaconda, which can grow to 17 feet long.

As the tourist declared the reptile skin, he had not committed an infringement
