The child's mum, Tracy Ineichen - who is in prison - had not heard from her mother, Annette Ineichen, since November 7.

The 28-year-old asked her boyfriend, Anthony Waldo, to check on the pair after being unable to reach her mum on the phone. Waldo went to the house, in Maryville, Tennessee, around 1.30pm on Saturday and found the porch door locked but an inside door open.

Through the window, he saw the baby in her cot with her arms outstretched, crying, according to a police report. Waldo called police then Tracy Ineichen, who has been held at Blount County jail since September 5, who told him to break into the house.
