But instead of winning the girl round, the note landed him in the head teacher's office where the school officials threatened they would ensure he was slapped with sexual harassment charges.
They said his pining was inappropriate and accused him of writing several "unwanted" letters.
Other students also teased the young writer, saying he wanted to see the girl naked.
The boy's mother slammed the school for its treatment of her son, saying his intentions had been entirely innocent.
"He's nine," said the boy's mother, who wasn't identified, told ABC Action News ,"What little kid doesn't write love notes?
"My nine-year-old doesn't even know what sexual harassment is."
