The
couple's son Ayden Lawlor-Khan was born in May this year – less than a
year after his father died following a 3.5-inch stab wound, which
pierced his lung and damaged a major artery.
Miss
Lawlor-Khan, who changed her surname to honour the man she calls her
'husband', said: 'I was with Aqeel's family when I found out I was
pregnant in August 2014 – seven days after he died.
'We
all cried. It was amazing to know we'd have a part of him back, but
devastating to think he wouldn't be here to watch his child grow up.
'Aqeel
would have been a wonderful father. He'd have spoiled Ayden rotten. We
always used to talk about having kids. We wanted a huge family together.
'I'm trying to focus on being a good mum and making sure Ayden knows how amazing his dad was.'
