Father-of-two Stuart Gallear,
51, stabbed his wife Mandy three times after she told him she was
leaving him for handyman Mark Prescott and said: 'I love him more than
you'
As
she fought for her life with fatal wounds, Mrs Gallear, 41, pleaded
with her husband: 'What are you doing? I still love you' before
collapsing on their kitchen floor. He rang for an ambulance but Mrs
Gallear was pronounced dead in hospital.
Gallear,
who worked as a manager at a warehouse in Wigan, Greater Manchester,
later admitted stabbing his wife - but he denied murder claiming
diminished responsibility.
He told a
court: 'I cannot remember what was going through my mind but I just lost
it. I must have stabbed her. There was blood on the knife. I can only
remember my arm moving. I know I've made a mistake.
He
added: 'I loved her to bits. It does not matter how many times you ask
me, I would never want to hurt or kill anyone, let alone my wife. But I
accept the consequences.'
Mr
Prescott, 51, a father-of-two who had worked on the Gallear's house in
the Hindley area of Wigan, had initially rekindled his marriage with his
own wife Ann-Marie, 44, after she temporarily split up with him
following news of his 18 month affair with Mrs Gallear.
A cheating wife told her husband she's in love with another man before he picked up a seven-inch kitchen knife and stabbed her to death
