British Police found Almost £1 million was found in a black cab driving through London's east
Metropolitan Police discovered the stash of £943,000 when they stopped the taxi in east London.
"The
cash was found when officers stopped a black cab in east London and
found a large holdall in the passenger compartment which contained the
cash," a Met Police spokesman said.
"The cash was subsequently forfeited under the Proceeds of Crime Act in early 2016."
Another £500,000 was found in a suitcase in a separate incident last year.
The
pick ups came as more than £73 million was seized from convicted
perpetrators during 2015/16, the biggest year since the Proceeds of
Crime Act came into force in 2002.
It also included luxury sports cars and Class A drugs.
The
largest confiscation order came in at £6,328,119.39 in May 2015
relating to the supply of chip and pin machines to central London
brothels.
Police said the main perpetrator created a number of
sham companies purporting to offer events and function facilities to
corporate clients.
