14-year-old boy has been charged with the murders of his mum and younger brother after they were fatally shot in the head as they slept in their beds.
After the killings high school student Jacob Remaley allegedly called
911 for help and tried to blame the murders on his father, claiming he
had placed a handgun in his bed before fleeing.
But court documents claim he later confessed to the double murder
, telling detectives he retrieved a gun that was left on top of the
refrigerator in the family's kitchen and then shot his mum, Dana, and
eight-year-old brother, Caleb.
Jacob told police he would have killed his father, David, an Army veteran, as well if he had been home at the time.
Jacob has been charged as an adult in the killings which
took place at the family's home in the US state of Pennsylvania just
weeks before Christmas.
He killed his 46-year-old mum and brother, a student in third
grade, with a Ruger .380 handgun shortly before 7am on Wednesday after
his father had left for work.
Jacob allegedly told an
investigator he retrieved the unloaded gun from the kitchen and loaded
it with a six-round magazine before shooting his mother once in the
forehead while she slept.
He then went into his brother's bedroom and shot him once in the head, the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports.
Police
raced to the home in the borough of New Stanton after receiving a 911
call from Jacob, who claimed his father had carried out the killings.
According to court documents, he told a dispatcher: "Why didn't he kill me?. I need help."
