A Saudi prince
who engaged in a war of words with Donald Trump - branding him 'a
disgrace to America' - has made a swift backtrack following the
Republican's shock victory in the US presidential election.
Prince
Alwaleed bin Talal lashed out at The Donald following controversial
remarks made on his campaign trail threatening to ban all Muslims from
entering America until the threat of terrorism was more under control.
Following
Trump's remarks last December, the prince said on Twitter:
'.@realDonaldTrump You are a disgrace not only to the GOP but to all
America. Withdraw from the U.S presidential race as you will never win.'
Trump
roared to victory on the back of a campaign that saw him rail against
other races, with his Muslim ban in addition to a plan to build a wall
between Mexico and the States.
However,
in his victory speech he appeared to already have taken a more
diplomatic stance, saying: 'It's time for America to bind the wounds of
division. We have to get together.
