The billionaire owner of Liverpool FC and the Boston Red Sox baseball team has reportedly paid around €80m (£68m) for a lavish superyacht that is loaded with luxurious features.
John Henry
is said to have bought the 66-metre (216.5ft) yacht, originally called
Ester III, at a last recorded asking price of €79.5m and renamed it
Iroquois.
The new Iroquois is equipped with high-end amenities including an infinity pool, fireplace, gym, spa and lift, according to Yacht Harbour, which reported details of the sale and the identity of the new owner.
Iroquois was docked at a marina in Gibraltar when it was
photographed on Thursday with an "Iroquois" name plate just below the
back of the infinity pool.
It has been moored there for months while a court decided its future.
Yacht Harbour's Dimitri Semenikhin said a source told the website details of the new owner.
Mr Henry has a net worth of $2.4 billion (£1.9 billion), Forbes reports, and also owns the Boston Globe newspaper and co-owns a NASCAR racing team.
Gibraltar's Supreme Court ordered the sale of the yacht in response to a claim filed by BNP Paribas (Suisse) SA against Ester III's previous owner.
Proceeds of the sale will be distributed to creditors in the coming months.
