Jose Mourinho turned up the heat ahead of his return to Chelsea by insisting he and billionaire owner Roman Abramovich were never friends.
Abramovich appointed Mourinho in 2004, with the Portuguese becoming the most successful boss in the Blues' history before leaving abruptly in 2007.
The Special One was rehired three years ago for a second spell at Stamford Bridge and led the Londoners to a third Premier League title the following season.
But it all unravelled last season, as Mourinho was sacked by Abramovich and the Chelsea board, with the champions in 16th spot, just one spot above the relegation places.

Against that backdrop and ahead of his potentially explosive return

insisted he was never close to Abramovich.
“He was never my friend,” said Mourinho.
“He was never my friend,” said Mourinho.
“We always had the relationship of owner-manager, a very respectful relationship.
“We were never friends. We were never close to each other. So, no. He’s just a person that I keep very respected.”
