Kanye
West has come under fire for putting out a casting call for
'multiracial' models only ahead of the release of his latest fashion
line. The controversial rapper tweeted the call on Friday afternoon ahead of auditions on West 26th Street in New York City on Sunday.
The
tweet also asked for those trying out for a coveted spot as a model for
his Yeezy Season 4 line to not wear makeup, and 'come as (they) are'.
The line is set to debut on September 7 - the opening day of New York Fashion Week.
However, some on social media were quick to latch onto Kanye's request for multiracial women only.
'No white people,' another added.
'Hmm
@ multiracial women only. Does that include the dark skinned
multiracial women or just the light skinned ones?' another wrote.
'This
is a major issue. In an industry that consistently cuts Black models
out, you do this?! You are the absolute worst. Truly,' a furious tweeter
unleashed on Kanye.
Despite the anger on social media, massive crowds were seen outside the studio where auditions were held.
Lines
were seen around the block in Manhattan, and those waiting for their
chance to impress Yeezy seemed less upset about his tweet.
