The American gold medallist swimmer Ryan Lochte has been held up and robbed at gunpoint during a party in Brazil. News outlets in the US said Lochte's mother had confirmed the reports - but one of the swimmer's coaches has denied the claims.
Lochte - one of America's leading swimmers - won gold in Brazil, in the 4x200m freestyle relay.
He was invited to the party by a Brazilian swimmer but was held at gunpoint and had his wallet stolen along with other guests.
He is now reportedly safe and well and called his mum after the incident.
