OK! only Alicia Keys was bold enough to go Make-up free at the MTV VMAs

Alicia Keys was the only star bold enough to go Make-up free at the MTV VMAs on Sunday, sending out a message more powerful than anything seen on the carpet before.

Wearing a red and black patterned maxi dress, the singer slayed the competition with her simple but stunning look.

Alicia previously revealed that it was a chance encounter with a photographer who wanted to take her picture without any make-up that gave her an epiphany and she hasn't worn make-up since.




"I was shocked," she wrote about the request on Lena Dunham's Lenny newsletter. "Instantly, I became a bit nervous and slightly uncomfortable.

"My face was totally raw. I had on a sweatshirt! As far as I was concerned, this was my quick run-to-the-shoot-so-I-can-get-ready look, not the actual photoshoot look.”
“I swear it is the strongest, most empowered, most free, and most honestly beautiful that I have ever felt."

The hugely talented singer added that she hopes her decision sparks a sea of change and more people opt to go make-up free on the red carpet.
