Notting Hill Carnival turned into a battle field as Police arrest 440 people

The Notting Hill Carnival was marred by violence yesterday after a brutal fight broke out in the street and 440 people were arrested - the highest total in at least 15 years.

Police and paramedics were on patrol in West London throughout but struggled to keep the peace at the largest carnival in Europe and arrested hundreds of revellers over the two days.

Yesterday, a man was caught on camera kicking a fellow reveller as he fell to the ground during the scuffle, and a black Audi - which was parked on the street near the famous event - was completely covered in paint.
