Matt Damon Hollywood actor returns to movie theatres on July 29 as Jason Bourne in his fourth appearance in the epic movie. And director Paul Greengrass has revealed that in the finished film, the actor, 45, has just 25 lines of dialogue, which he reportedly earn atleast $1 million per line.
The star, who got paid $25 million for last
year's The Martian, was likely paid at least $1 million for each line he
spoke.
Vanity Fair reported
Monday that Universal would likely have had to shell out at least $25
million to persuade Damon to return to the franchise after a nine-year
break.
The speculation was prompted by comments Damon made during an interview with The Guardian,
in which he talked about how Greengrass had called him once the film
was finished to tell him he only had about 25 lines in the final
version.
And
judging from the action-packed trailer, some of those lines are only a
few words long - such as 'I remember. I remember everything' and 'They
tracked you. We gotta move.'
Damon,
one of the most bankable and respected actors in Hollywood, revealed he
didn't have a problem with his performance being more physical than
spoken.
He pointed out that the amount of words he's been given has diminished with each outing as Bourne.
'So
Bourne has a sounding board and he’s more confused about who he is and a
lot more chatty,' Damon explained in The Guardian interview.
'Once she dies in the first act of the second movie, it’s really a very lonely character.'
