50 Cent donates $100k to autism charity after mistakenly mocking disabled teen thinking he was under drugs, the rapper has donated $100,000 to an autism charity after he was criticised for mocking an autistic teenager. Earlier this week the rapper posted a video of him insulting the airport worker, 19, and accused him of being high. Watch Video after the cut.
"I want to turn this misunderstanding into an understanding," he said in a statement to Billboard shortly after it was reported his premier vodka brand was being boycotted at local bars in Cincinnati - where the 19-year-old worked.
"There are people that are ignored, mistreated and neglected with disabilities that need our support. Today, I have made a donation of $100,000 to this worthy cause through Autism Speaks," he continued.
He added: "I am calling on my fellow musicians, actors, entertainers and all others who may not have fully considered this cause to join together to help in any way they can."
The donation comes days after he issued an apology, saying he was "truly sorry" for the incident.
In a statement to Mirror Celebs, he added: "While the incident at the airport resulted from an unfortunate misunderstanding, I am truly sorry for offending the young man.
"It was certainly not my intent to insult him or the disability community, which is a source of great strength in America. I have apologised personally to him and his family (sic)."
The moment came as the man was pushing a cart of cleaning supplies through Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport.
As the youngster ignores the star, Fiddy can be heard saying: "The new generation is crazy. They're crazy. What's your name?
"Look at him. What kind of s*** do you think he took before he got to work today? He high as a motherf****r right here in the airport. Pupils dilated - the new generation is f***ing crazy."
