This
is the inside of an alleged Indian 'baby farm' hospital where
authorities say mothers were convinced to sell their unwanted children. The Video shows two tiny babies lying next to each other in a private hospital in the city of Gwalior in India's Madhya Pradesh.
Police
say they were rescued from the 30-bed hospital which they say was
running a 'baby farm' with infants sold off for £1,000 - and some of
them to slavery.
Footage
shows officers raiding the facility and making arrests having been made
aware of three babies being 'sold' by staff to men and women who were
unable to have their own children.
Prateek Kumar, from the ASP crime branch, told the Times of India: 'A Gwalior based couple had two boys. They swapped one of their boys with a girl at this hospital.'
Authorities
claim the babies involved were from mothers who had unwanted
pregnancies. They were were allegedly convinced not to have abortions
and to instead have their child at the hospital, police say.
Kumar
added: 'When a girl or her parents approached them for termination of
pregnancies, doctors at this hospital used to convince them assuring a
safe and secret delivery.
'Once baby is delivered and mother gets discharged, hospital authorities start hunting for gullible couples who could buy them.'
The
Times of India reports that five people, including the hospital's
director TK Gupta, the manager and couples who purchased babies, have
been arrested.
