Beyonce has caused quite a stir with some of the cryptic lyrics on her new album Lemonade. And her father and former manager Mathew Knowles has now been forced to deny fan speculation that he hit her as a child after rumours went into overdrive thanks to her new track Daddy Lessons.

Gushing: Mathew Knowles, pictured with daughter Beyonce in London in 2007, has denied fan speculation that he hit her as a child after rumours went into overdrive thanks to her new track Daddy Lessons
The song begins with Beyonce reading a few lines from poet Warsan Shire, saying, 'Did he convince you that he was God?
'Are you a slave to the back of his hand? Am I talking about your husband or your father?'

Matthew - who helped his daughter rise to fame in Destiny's Child and acted as her manager until 2011 - shut down the allegations once and for all during an appearance on Sirius XM show, Make It Plain.

The 64-year-old said: 'I can say I have never in my life hit my daughter. So she has never been a slave to the back of my hand because I didn't believe in that.'
The music manager refused to discuss the other hotly-debated lyric on the album, which suggests that Jay Z had cheated on the singer with 'Becky with the good hair'.

Former manager: Knowles, who divorced Beyonce's mother Tina in 2011, managed her career through Destiny's Child, until relinquishing the reigns to Jay Z. He's pictured in New York City last October

Mathew said: 'There's no way we can get into the mind of Beyonce. Only Beyonce can answer specifically who she was talking to.

'I would rather not get into speculation. My answer is I don't know.'
