Lupita Nyong’o stuns at Eclipsed opening night afterparty following rave reviews for Danai Gurira's play

The 33-year-old stunned at the Eclipsed opening night afterparty on Sunday night, as the rave reviews for her performance in the Liberian Civil War play.

Hours before taking to the stage at the John Golden Theatre, the Mexi-Kenyan revealed on Instagram that she had in fact played the role of The Girl before.


In a cute note penned to fans, she listed '12 things you need to know before you see Eclipsed', providing some background on the conflict, the setting and the people involved.

'I first played my character as an understudy in Drama School,' she revealed. 'I never went on, and I promised myself back then that I would play "The Girl" some day, somehow, somewhere, so it’s mindblowing to get to do it on Broadway.'

The play, set in 2003, tells the story of five women near the end of the Second Liberian Civil War.

It is almost entirely set in a small one-room shack where three of the women are being held by the Commanding Officer of a rebel faction, who basically uses them as sex slaves.
