Islamists chanted 'Allahu Akbar' as the ex-wife of ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi was released by Lebanon in a prisoner swap with Al-Qaeda's Syrian wing. Saja
al-Dulaimi, fully veiled and clutching her six-month-old baby, was
shown in live TV footage with her three children, who were with her in
prison, as she was released as part of a deal brokered by neighbouring
Qatar.
In
return for her and 12 Islamists, Lebanon got 16 captured soldiers back
from Al-Qaeda affiliated Nusra Front, as well as one of the bodies of
the two prisoners they had killed.
Nusra
Front fighters were shown kissing and hugging the sons of Dulaimi, who
was arrested by the Lebanese authorities in November 2014, charged with
belonging to a 'terrorist group'.
She gave birth to a baby girl while imprisoned in June of this year.
Dulaimi has now revealed she plans to go to Turkey.
Speaking to Al Jazeera,
she said: 'I am Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi's ex-wife. We have been divorced
for over six years now. I will head to Beirut and plan on leaving to
Turkey.'
The swap took place in the Lebanese border town of Arsal, where the soldiers were captured 16 months ago. The
heavily-armed Nusra Front fighters arrived in the town chanting 'God is
great' and waving their flag before handing over the prisoners to the
Red Cross.
