A
disturbing video has emerged that appears to show four women being
tortured by a gang of men after being accused of witchcraft. The
footage was reportedly taken in a village in Papua New Guinea. In the video, the women have been stripped naked, tied up, burned and beaten. photos and full story after the cut...
It also shows them being threatened with machetes while being questioned by the men.
The
women were accused of sorcery after a young man fell ill in the village
in Enga province in August, two sources on the island told The Guardian.
According to social media posts, villagers claimed the women had 'invisibly' taken out the man's heart.
The suspects repeatedly deny the allegations, with one woman begging her attackers: 'My son, stop it!'
A man replies: 'Talk out, where did you put it? Burn her with the wire.'
Another woman says: 'I've got nothing to do with it,' says another woman. 'I am a mother with five children.'
The
gang later claimed the women returned the man's heart after they were
tortured, apparently proving their guilt, according to the social media
reports.
It is believed at least one woman died after the ordeal, but this has not been confirmed.
