Lil Wayne and other basketball players mistakenly tweet that Lamar Odom has died

Lil Wayne, basketball player JR Smith and former NBA star Al Harrington mistakenly tweeted that Odom had died, leaving millions of fans around the world confuse... while Lamar Odom is still fighting for his life in a Las Vegas hospital. See tweets after the cut


Lil wayne to on his twitter yesterday, but He quickly followed that up with an apology and correction, adding: 'I'm sorry. I thought the passed. Prayers for my bro. #PrayforLO

That error was then repeated around an hour later by Lil Wayne, who sent this message to his 24.5million followers, also announcing Odom had died




Harrington was among the first high profile figures to make the mistake, sending a message to his 27,000 Twitter followers late last night, reading: 'RIP LO! Can't believe it....'
Smith, who plays for the Cleveland Cavaliers, uploaded this image of Odom from his college basketball days early this morning along with a message that started 'RIP LO'

Harrington quickly realized his mistake, however, and sent out an apology and correction an hour later

Meanwhile millions of others have rallied around to pray for Odom's recovery on social media, including Kendall Jenner, his former sister-in-law while he was married to Khloe Kardashian

Odom (pictured here during his last competitive basketball game in 2014) had declined as an athlete in recent years, before being found unconscious after suffering a heart attack in a brothel yesterday
