Despicable male rapist who tortured his male victim is jailed. The Victim who is a chef was put through an horrific seven-hour sex attack in his own home by a vicious sex beast. Joseph
O’Reilly tied his victim to a bed, sliced off his hair and stuffed it
into his mouth, raped him before urinating on him in a “terrifying and humiliating”
assault. He was severely injured, bleeding heavily, and was taken to hospital.
The barber brutally raped, slashed and tortured the petrified man, before robbing him at his bedsit.
O’Reilly targeted his victim, who can’t be named for legal reasons, after spotting him waiting for a taxi outside Glasgow Central Station after finishing work,
After the 37-year-old fiend found out that the 36-year-old man lived alone in Paisley, he pretended he lived there too so that he could share his victim’s taxi home, with pal James Mair.
When they got there, O’Reilly and Mair, 40, accepted an offer to come up to his bedsit and try some of his vodka.
Their victim, who said he had not expected them to stay for more than one or two shots, revealed that they started snorting lines of amphetamine, before O’Reilly turned on him.
Through an interpreter, the victim told the High Court in Stirling that when O’Reilly realised he was gay, he started laughing at him in a “very malicious and hostile way”.
The thug then grabbed his head, opened his own trousers and raped him, orally, twice.
He was repeatedly beaten by O’Reilly and then tied to his own bed with old TV cable that Mair found after rifling through drawers.
O’Reilly grabbed his phone and bank card, and demanded his PIN.
When he refused, O’Reilly forced him to reveal it by producing a Stanley knife from his pocket, drawing it across his face, and pulling down his trousers and slicing his buttocks.
He then tried to cover his tracks by forcing his victim to make a clumsy false “confession” - which O’Reilly recorded on his mobile - in which he was made to lie that he had invited his attackers back to his flat for gay sex.
O’Reilly cut off his victim’s hair and forced it into his mouth before spraying him with cold water from the shower and then urinating on him.
He was eventually freed at 9.30am - seven and a half hours after first getting into the taxi with O’Reilly and Mair - when his elderly landlord came to collect his rent, realised something was wrong and let himself in with a skeleton key.
After a four-day trial, a jury of five men and ten women found O’Reilly, a father of two, an unemployed qualified hairdresser from Pollok, guilty of assault, robbery, male rape and theft.
He jailed Mair for 18 months.
Imposing the eight-year sentence on O’Reilly, Lord Turnbull told him he had been convicted of “a catalogue of offending conduct of a most despicable nature” and had a long criminal record.
