The lawyer, Kayode Olaosebikan, handling Yunusa Dahiru case, the alleged abductor of
14-year-old Ese Rita Oruru, has faulted the claim of Dahiru Bala, the
father of Yunusa, that his son (Yunusa) is 25-year old. The lawyer
claimed that his client who was arraigned before a Federal High Court in
Yenegoa is 18-year old.
In an earlier interview with national newspapers, including Vanguard, Bala, claimed that Yunusa is 25-years old.“My son is 25, and I found it extremely necessary to stand by him at this moment of his travails despite his failure to accept my advice initially. Yunusa was a house help to Oruru’s family for 10 years and when he told me of his love relationship with Ese, I opposed him because we already had a bride for him in the village. When he called to say that he was on his way home with his love I informed him of the bride we had found for him,” the 55-year-old man said in the interview.
However, during Yunusa’s arraignment on Tuesday, his lawyer claimed that he is 18.
“We see the case as that of two love birds. It is case of Yunusa, an 18 year old boy in love with a 14 year old girl. They agreed to elope,” he said.
Yunusa was dragged before a Federal High Court in Bayelsa’s capital, Yenegoa on five count charge.
