Convicted rapper Bobby Shmurda could be a free man this week. After ongoing
struggles to make his $2 million bail, the Brooklyn rapper -- whose 2014 hit "Hot Boy" became
a viral sensation -- could emerge from behind bars as early as
Thursday, according to TMZ. His
aunt has reportedly put real estate properties up for sale to help make
the hefty collateral as other family members are said to be working
closely with New York bondsman Ira Judelson.
The
MC born Ackquille Pockard has been locked up, alongside other members
of his GS9 squad, since last December on charges including conspiracy
counts, reckless endangerment, and criminal possession of a weapon.
In February, Billboard
exclusively spoke to Shmurda about life in the pen and the legal drama
surrounding his case. "When I see the judge and the DA, I just see a
bunch of people trying to take my life away for being blessed," he
said at the time. "When I look at them, it looks like a bunch of
haters."
