Oscar Pistorius arrives at the North Gauteng High Court in Pretoria, South Africa for a bail hearing today. The Olympic and Paralympic gold medallist Oscar Pistorius has
arrived at court to apply for bail following his conviction for
murdering his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp, after Last week judges
changed his manslaughter conviction to murder last week and the killer
now faces a minimum 15-year jail sentence.
He was released from jail on October 19 and had been meant to serve
the rest of that five-year sentence under house arrest at his uncle's
house in a wealthy suburb of the capital Pretoria.
Model Reeva Steenkamp, 29, died on Valentine's Day in 2013 after he shot her four times through a locked toilet door.
He said he mistook Steenkamp for a burglar, while prosecutors argued that he had intended to kill her.
State prosecutors will likely argue Pistorius may be a higher flight risk because of the threat of a lengthier sentence.
